“Blond Couple in Flood Time” by Rodney Nelson

Blond Couple in Flood Time

the girl and the boy were even eighteen
and in a dress gown and white tuxedo
had been somewhere
———-moving through full moonlight
on the wide stone walk of the river park
that went down to the floodwater and hand
in hand they would not have needed to talk
————————a May night
invited whispering but
NQAIJ QAIB HAU XYAW TSHUAJ IS MY ALL-TIME
FAVORITE he even said
————WHEN YOU GET
THE RIGHT HERBS and she took him up on it
MY MOM ORDERS PAWJ QAIB AND NTIV LEAVES
FROM COTTAGE GROVE which seemed to make him think
————————-reach deeper
inside for the one comeback
THE SOUP IS NOTHING WITHOUT HMAB NTSA
AND FINDING THAT HERB THAT’S A REAL CHALLENGE
———–wading through
open night in the water
now they even turned to each other and
YOU’RE ALMOST HMONG IN THIS LIGHT he added
